For fans
What is w8v?
w8v is an underground electronic music marketplace. You buy music directly from artists and labels — no middlemen, no algorithms deciding what you hear. Every purchase shows up in your public Collection, which other fans can browse to discover music.
How do I buy music?
Click any release and hit the buy button. Pay by card, and your download starts immediately. You keep access to everything you buy forever.
What quality will I download?
The exact file the artist uploaded — WAV or FLAC. Always lossless, always the original source. We don't accept MP3 uploads, so you're never getting a compressed copy.
Can I re-download my purchases?
Yes. Everything you buy lives in your Collection permanently. Go to your Collection at any time to download again.
Can I buy one track from an album?
Yes. Hover over any album card to see individual tracks with their own buy buttons. You only pay for what you want.
What is "name your price"?
Some artists set a minimum price but let you pay more if you want. Enter any amount at or above the minimum. A good way to support artists you love.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card payments via Stripe — Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
What is a Collection?
Your public profile showing everything you've bought on w8v. Others can browse it and find music through you. That's how discovery works here — through real people, not recommendation engines.
Can I make my Collection private?
Yes. Go to Settings and switch off "Public collection". Your purchases stay yours — they just won't be visible to others.
What is a Wishlist?
A way to save releases you want to come back to. Click the heart on any release to add it. Find your wishlist in your Collection under the Wishlist tab.
For artists & labels
How do I start selling?
Create an account, go to your profile and click "Create artist page". Fill in your details, connect Stripe to receive payments, then upload your first release. The whole process takes under 10 minutes.
What audio formats can I upload?
WAV and FLAC only. w8v is a high-quality platform — we don't accept MP3 source files. Your files are automatically transcoded for streaming so fans can preview before buying.
How do revenue splits work?
When you upload a release, you add each collaborator (producer, vocalist, engineer) and set their percentage. Every time a track sells, everyone gets paid automatically via Stripe. No manual transfers, no chasing people.
When do I get paid?
Stripe transfers your earnings after each sale. How quickly it lands in your bank depends on your Stripe payout schedule, which is typically 2–7 business days.
What does w8v charge?
10% of each sale goes to w8v. The remaining 90% is split between you and any collaborators you've added.
Can I offer music for free?
Yes. Set the price to 0 and fans can add it to their Collection for free. It still shows up as a real purchase in their profile.
Can I set a minimum price and let fans pay more?
Yes. Enable "Let fans pay more" when setting your price. You set the floor, fans decide how much they actually want to give.
Can I upload as a label with multiple artists?
Yes. Create a label account instead of an artist account. You can credit multiple artists per release, including various artists compilations with different artists per track.
Can I edit a release after publishing?
Yes. Go to the release page and click "Edit release". You can update the title, cover art, track prices, collaborator splits, and featured artists at any time.
General
What genres does w8v focus on?
Underground electronic music — techno, house, ambient, experimental, and everything in between. If it's made for the floor or the headphones and it lives outside the mainstream, it belongs here.
Is w8v invite-only?
No. Anyone can sign up as a fan and start buying immediately. Creating an artist or label page is also open to everyone.
How do I contact you?
Email us at info@w8v.io. We read everything.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings and scroll to the bottom. You'll find the option to delete your account there. Purchases you've made are preserved so artists keep their sale records.
